The Zone diet is the one where you have to consume 40% carbs, 30% proteins, 30% fat. Tell me what you know about this diet, or any experiences. I’m just trying to find a diet that really works for me. Also, there is a Zone program where they deliver the food everyday to your house, so that would be very comfortable because I could diet without counting calories or confused about the cooking part.

If I go on a low carb diet, will it lower the amount of good bacteria in my gut?

Also, if I take probiotics, will they be able to be sustained in my gut on a low carb diet or will the probiotics be ineffective in providing benefits if I am on a low carb diet?

I need to lose some weight– about 40-50 pounds. I am intelligent and know that decreasing caloric intake and increasing my activity level will do that, but its so hard to stick to a diet when everyone else in the family isn’t dieting.

Any tricks or tips that I’m not aware of? Or do I have to just commit to Weight Watchers or another plan and also put my family on a diet as well?
